Some Key Facts:
Ukraine is the largest country in Europe (around four times bigger than England).
The current troubles are occurring in the country's eastern region.
Much of eastern Ukraine (and some of the south) is aligned with Russia. West and central Ukraine is pro EU.
Population is around 48 million, of which it is believed the majority are female.
Russian is spoken and fully understood by everyone - Ukrainian is only spoken in the west of the country. The two languages are about 80% the same.
Zero investment by previous corrupt governments in hospitals, schools, transport and everything else is evident throughout; the water, for example, comes out of the taps brown, you must not ever drink it. Do not even brush your teeth with it. Buy bottled water always, it is cheap enough and sold everywhere.
Ukrainians are not hostile towards foreigners, quite the opposite, actually. It is often said: 'Make a friend of a Ukrainian and you have made a friend for life'. But first, they must get to know you. Therefore in the street and in cafe's etc, they will appear standoffish. Nothing to worry about.
Racism:
Ukraine is a 100% Caucasian nation.
There are a handful of African students dotted around but that's about it.
Any Ukrainian girl that wished to enter into a mixed race relationship, perhaps even bear a mixed race child would have to leave the country. Her parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters and friends would disown her for bringing 'shame' upon them and for causing an 'offence against God'. Races must remain with their races, as far as Ukrainians are concerned.
Perhaps we should just accept that there are some countries on this earth that totally reject the idea of multiculturalism - Ukraine, and Russia, are two such countries. They'll not be changing any time in our future!
Homophobia:
Of course, there are gays and lesbians in Ukraine, but they do not declare their sexuality openly. They do not display their affections for their partners in public. Another 'offence against God'!
The Women:
Not every Ukrainian woman is looking to marry a foreign man. But there are some that dream of this. Some that join international dating websites. Some that will approach a foreign guy in a cafe or bar and begin speaking (if they know some English, German or whatever).
Are there really that many women there? Yes. They are, quite literally, swarming everywhere you go.
And are they really as beautiful as everyone says? Yes again. Travelers Digest's Top Ten Cities With The Most Beautiful Women says Kiev is "without a doubt, home to the world's most beautiful women". Its Editors should have traveled to other places in Ukraine besides simply Kiev - the phenomenon is evident throughout the entire country! And no one knows why it is, just that it is. And everything you see is natural. There are no cosmetic surgeries in Ukraine (and the women couldn't afford any of that anyway). Certainly what helps is that most Ukrainians eat natural food. Vegetables often picked the day of eating. Fresh meat, fish and eggs without any chemicals.
Ukrainian women do not laze about all day at home, watching TV and stuffing their faces. They go out to work, and work about the family home. Yes, there are out-of-shape women in Ukraine, but the truth is that they are definitely in the minority!
A final word on Ukrainian women: Accompanying their staggering beauty is their femininity and their traditional beliefs. It might be said that western women are ditching femininity in their droves for a more laddish way of behaving and thinking, sort of 'he-she's'. Not so Ukrainian women, or any Eastern European women. If you're a foreign guy lucky enough to date a Ukrainian girl you'd better quickly get used to holding doors open for her, lifting her coat off of her shoulders and refraining from your laddish traits in her presence! She will also always rate family life, cooking and keeping a nice home above career and possessions, so be ready for that, too!
Refreshing, isn't it?!
